Coordinator of Support Services
Pathfinders is currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Coordinator of Support Services to ensure that every child in our program is met with the care, accommodations, and encouragement they deserve. This role partners closely with families, guides, and leadership to support diverse learners, implement inclusive practices, and build strong systems of wraparound care. As both a child advocate and staff coach, the Coordinator helps foster a program culture rooted in equity, responsiveness, and whole-child development. They are equal parts connector, problem-solver, and champion for inclusion.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Coordinator of Support Services is responsible for identifying, coordinating, and implementing individualized supports for children with diverse learning, behavioral, developmental, and emotional needs. Working in close partnership with families, Guides (our instructors), and the Program Director, this role ensures inclusive practices are embedded into the fabric of daily programming—while also serving as a point person for referrals, accommodations, and wraparound supports.
This role is ideal for someone with a background in special education, social work, child development, or behavior intervention who thrives in nontraditional, relationship-driven environments and believes deeply in equitable access to meaningful, joyful learning experiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Student & Family Support
Conduct informal screenings, observations, and needs assessments for students demonstrating developmental, behavioral, or learning challenges
Support individualized learning plans and help adapt programming as needed for student success
Partner with families to identify resources, share observations, and communicate progress or concerns with care and clarity
Facilitate family meetings and referrals when further support or evaluation is needed (e.g., IEP, OT, speech, mental health)
Coordinate with school district teams as appropriate to align supports with IEP/504 plans
Staff Collaboration & Inclusion Practices
Coach and train Guides on trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming strategies for inclusion and behavior guidance
Collaborate with the Curriculum Director to ensure learning experiences are accessible and inclusive
Lead professional development or planning sessions as needed to promote inclusion practices across the program
Model a strengths-based, responsive approach to supporting all learners
Systems & Documentation
Maintain confidential documentation of student needs, incidents, plans, and referrals
Develop internal processes to track interventions and follow-ups
Support safety planning and supervision strategies for students needing additional behavioral or emotional support
Ensure policies reflect inclusive, non-discriminatory, and developmentally appropriate practices
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
4+ years experience in special education, child and family services, behavior intervention, or related field
Deep understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, and inclusive education practices
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with both children and adults
Comfort and confidence navigating both field-based environments and office/coordination tasks
Passion for equity, inclusion, and empowering children with diverse needs
Preferred
Familiarity with place-based education, alternative schooling models, or enrichment programs
Experience working with IEPs/504 plans and school-based support teams
Background in social work, counseling, or psychology a plus
Spanish proficiency or experience supporting bilingual families is a plus

SCHEDULE & LOCATION
Flexible part-time to full-time hours available (M–Th between 8am–4pm, with occasional communication needs outside hours)
Based at our Bankers Hill Flagship location with regular presence at field sites across San Diego
Hybrid remote work possible for documentation, coordination, and communication tasks
