Trailside Tutoring
Coming August 2025

Trailside Tutoring offers a unique opportunity for students in grades 6-12 to excel in STEAM subjects through our immersive, outdoor-based academic program. Designed to blend rigorous academic standards with place-based learning, our curriculum ensures students are not only prepared to meet but exceed California state STEAM requirements for college and/or career placement.

Each session spans 12-16 weeks, meeting twice a week for 2-hour blocks in inspiring outdoor settings that foster curiosity and critical thinking.

Our signature program, Math Path, guides students through multiple sessions from Integrated Math 6 to Statistics BC or Practical Math, equipping them for optional AP testing, competitive college-level math placement, or job placement.

With hands-on exploration and high academic standards, Trailside Tutoring empowers students to thrive in both academic and real-world challenges while connecting deeply with the natural environment.

Pathways

  • Pathway I: College

We prepare college-hopeful students for college placement through:

    College Prep Coursework:

We ensure students meet California A-G requirements with rigorous, well-taught courses such as Algebra II, Precalculus, and Statistics.

    Dual Enrollment Opportunities:

We help students apply to and attend San Diego Community College District to begin completing college-level coursework. Dual enrollment sessions are unique from our other sessions in that students learn the material in a college class (online or in person) and then attend tutoring sessions to further learn the material, do homework alongside a skilled teacher, and ensure mastery of the content.

    SAT/ACT Preparation:

We provide specialized tutoring for standardized college-entry tests, emphasizing problem-solving and math skills.

    Math Placement Readiness:

We prepare students for college placement exams to avoid remedial courses.

    College Advising:

We offer close guidance on college applications, financial aid, and scholarships.

    Enrichment Programs:

    Vocational Training:

Offer foundational math and problem-solving skills tailored to specific industries like healthcare, manufacturing, or technology.

    Certifications:

Support students in earning certifications (e.g., Excel proficiency, CAD for engineers, coding bootcamps).

    Resume Building and Job Applications:

Help students develop strong resumes, cover letters, and interview skills over the course of several sessions with math and technical skills emphasized.

    Internships or Apprenticeships:

Connect students with local businesses or organizations for hands-on experience.
